Before i was depressed, self loathing and sad and felt terrible for ash. I still have that to look forward to for hopefully not too many months/years but i am really getting aggravated now. The reason is not the moronity of me not reading and understanding the bulletin fully- although im sure i read that rule and didnt process it or forgot which was very very stupid and unforgivable obv.
The reason is the punishment for ENTERING but not competing in 5 events(well sorry entering 4 individual events- obv you can legally enter 5 events if 2 of them are relays- which i dispute because im not the only one who doesnt comprehend the rulebook) is ridiculously over the top horseshit.
The following is a list of things you can do at a meet that are Significantly Less egregious and less penalized than what we did:
Unsporting conduct that is unethical or dishonorable
Disrespectfully addressing an official
Any Flagrant behavior
Intentional contact- ie hitting or shoving someone(not during a race- like fighting)
Taunting
Criticizing or using profanity directed toward an official or competitor
If Ashley had done any of those things during or after the 400 for instance she would have been out of the 400 and the 800 and the results in the high jump and long jump which she had already completed would count and she would have gone on to the state meet. Since she did the unfogivably heinous crime of entering 5 events but only running 4 of them her high school career is terminated.
Of course the rest of these things are so minor compared to what she did that they are barely worthy of penalty at all:
Unacceptable Conduct
Failure to listen to meet official
Using Profanity not directed at someone
Any action which could bring discredit to your school.
Interfering with(shoving,tripping,pushing etc) a competitor
Those might as well not even happen and simply deserve a slap on the wrist and then get back out there for the 4x1.
Run today was fine a nice very easy run with sanborn and Franny! she is home for the weekend.
